Does Acupuncture Hurt?

One misconception that a lot of people have about acupuncture is that there will be pain during the procedure. Since it is known that during acupuncture small, thin needles are used during the procedure, it is human nature to assume that it will hurt. Well, this is not entirely true.

During the Acupuncture procedure, you will feel the needle when it penetrates your skin. You may feel a tingling sensation when the needle is inserted as well as when the needle is either being moved, twirled or removed. Most people that have already experienced the procedure informs that they do not feel any pain at all the entire time.

They will either feel the relief of their pain or tension immediately or gradually during the process. However, if one is to experience any type of pain during the acupuncture treatment, you should inform the practitioner right away to stop the process immediately or to let them move the needle to the appropriate acupuncture point. When you decide to undergo this kind of alternative treatment, choose only a licensed acupuncturist. You can find them in our facility at AWCOF.
